Borrego Solar and Greenwood Energy Complete Ithaca College Solar Array
Given solar energy is now competitive with fossil fuels, you’ll see more press releases from universities, corporations and residential developers in 2017. It is my expectation that the growth of solar energy will be substantial in 2017 and beyond. Below is an excerpt of a PRWEB press release for a recent project at Ithaca College. Borrego Solar co-developed, designed and built Ithaca College’s 2.9 MW solar array while Greenwood Energy will own and operate it.
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) DECEMBER 22, 2016
Financier Greenwood Energy and installer Borrego Solar Systems today announce the completion of a 2.9 megawatt (MW) remote-net-metered solar array for Ithaca College. Borrego Solar co-developed, designed and built the array while Greenwood Energy will own and operate it.
The solar farm will generate an estimated 3.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in its first year, which will provide roughly 10 percent of the campus’ electricity needs. This amount is equal to powering the Gannett Center, Dillingham Center and Williams Hall academic buildings, along with the Emerson residence Hall.
